The bridal event of the year has come to a close, and the Bride team is thrilled with the result of this year’s Melbourne Bride Wedding Expo.
There was a fantastic buzz in the air at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th of June, with huge bundles of excited brides-to-be and their families and friends entering the enticing atmosphere to meet and greet all the wonderful exhibitors that made it to the expo.
We had a great range of exhibitors this year, from many different wedding supplier backgrounds. There’s no opportunity for future brides like the Melbourne Bride Wedding Expo, as it is a one-stop-shop to garner unique and interesting ideas for your big day. Planning a wedding is so easy upon your visit, because with a few laps of the floor, you can talk to and book appointments with any of the exhibitors that tickle your fancy!
The crème de la crème of the Melbourne Bride Wedding Expo is always the state-of-the-art fashion catwalk, which showcases many of Melbourne’s top designers and couturiers, and this year’s catwalk was no exception. With the gorgeous models flouncing down the runway in some exquisite gowns, the crowds were always entertained and inspired.
Thank you to all of the exhibitors who made it to the expo and thank you to the visitors who came along – we hope you found it helpful and managed to pick up some helpful tips and inspiration for your wedding day.

Masterchef Connection at Melbourne Bride Wedding Expo

Bride had tons of fun on the weekend doing a shoot down at Fenix Restaurant where renowned chef and Fenix owner, Gary Mehigan was hamming it up with a slab of wedding cake with our gorgeous model Grace! Note – her piece is just a slither but she was very happy to swap plates!! The shoot is for the Herald Sun to promote our fabulous event this weekend The Melbourne Bride Wedding Expo
Fenix is a gorgeous location – inner city of course as it’s Richmond – but with the venue perched on the river banks it has the feel of being in a rustic bush setting! Trees and view of the water look sensational from the balcony and of course the food has got to be exceptional with Gary in charge. Nothing rustic about the modern funky feel of the interior though and the delectable aromas were quite distracting as we tried to concentrate on the business of mucking around with the cake! Apparently all the brides that book at Fenix for their wedding get a free cake! Now that’s fine incentive as it looked incredibly delicious!
Fenix have a big stand at our expo on the weekend so come on down and chat with their team at stand number 85 and there will be loads of other inspiring people to talk to as well.
Our very gorgeous Bride looked amazing in a tight, sexy, fishtail number from Baccini & Hill and a pretty headpiece from Elysian Creations. Both of these designers are also going to be at the Expo and staring on our catwalk so don’t miss the chance to chat with the best in Melbourne. If you’re engaged and need ideas – it’s all happening this weekend 16 & 17 June at Melbourne Convention and exhibition centre in Southbank.

Gorgeous gowns by JASONGRECH!
New designs from the 2011 JASONGRECH White collection
Our real-life brides are always telling us that their favourite part of planning their wedding was finding their perfect gown. Well brides-to-be, prepare to swoon, with launch of JASONGRECH White’s new season bridal collection!
Designer Jason Grech says the inspiration for the collection was drawn from Melbourne’s autumn. “I love walking through the autumn leaves in the crisp Melbourne weather,” Jason says. “Leaves are so beautiful – I really feel that they’re more unique than flowers.”
One of the highlights of our recent expo was the runway show featuring the launch of the collection. Design duo Jason and Harry presented their debut bridal range JASONGRECH White at the 2009 expo and have blown us all away again with their stunning new collection, is simply amazeballs!
Visitors to the expo were wowed by Jason’s gowns adorned with leaf motifs – soft silk leaves, leaf embroidery on tulle and the label’s signature Swarovski crystal detailing.
The gowns also heavily feature Sophie Hallette handmade Parisian lace, from the very same fashion house that created the lace for Princess Catherine’s gorgeous Alexander McQueen dress. As always with JASONGRECH White, this latest collection is created from exclusive European fabrics that move and drape beautifully.

For the first time this year, the JASONGRECH collection also took to the expo runway, showcasing red carpet glamour and chic cocktail dresses that double for gorgeous bridesmaids’ gowns.

Jacqui gets the royal treatment at Expo!
We had plenty of entrants to our Princess For A Day competition, which ran in the lead up to the 2011 Melbourne Bride Wedding Expo. But it was Jacqui Credaro who was crowned the lucky winner!

On June 18, Jacqui received the royal treatment during her visit to Expo, with a hair and makeup consultation by Kim from Celebrity Hair and Makeup (including a touch-up for her two bridesmaids) and a photography session with expert fashion photographer Andy Tavares.

Jacqui and her bridesmaids also enjoyed our fantastic catwalk show from the front row, and was presented with a beautiful princess-inspired tiara from our friends at Bliss Design. She was also introduced by our Junior Editor, Erin, to her three favourite exhibitors – Mariana Hardwick, Baccini & Hill and The House of Elegant Cakes!

The 2011 Melbourne Bride Wedding Expo is over for another year, but what a fantastic weekend it was! We had thousands of entries to our competitions, giving visitors the chance to be a Princess For A Day, win a fabulous prize pack worth over $1500, and an amazing wedding gown and styling package from JASONGRECH White and a luxury honeymoon to Fiji!
Our lucky Princess For A Day winner, Jacqui Credaro, was a special guest to the Expo on June 18, enjoying a hair and makeup consultation with Kim from Celebrity Hair and Makeup, as well as a photography session with Andy Tavares, front row seats to our fabulous catwalk show, a princess-inspired tiara by Bliss Design and a meet and greet with her favourite exhibitors, Mariana Hardwick, Baccini & Hill and The House of Elegant Cakes.
Today, the Bride team is excited to announce the winners of our other competitions! Lara Moorehead took home the Bride.com.au prize pack, which included a Schwarzkopf ultimate styling pack; Cinderella Bella’s Rosa shoes; double pass to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Love Never Dies; Vera Wang For Women 50ml perfume; Vera Wang For Men 50ml cologne; Love Chloe 50ml perfume; Calvin Klein 50ml cologne; and Maxwell & Williams Kimono 16-piece dinner set, Microstoven Tajine and Rim 16-piece dinner set!
