Paris – City Of Love!
Paris is a dream destination for honeymoons or even a chic “destination wedding”. Who hasn’t fantasised about strolling the boulevards hand in hand, lingering over a long lunch in a sidewalk café or late at night wandering home from a special dinner along the cobblestone streets? There are certainly beautiful hotels you can stay but this is often a very costly option!
A really brilliant way to enjoy being a part of the city and close to all the action is a vacation rental apartment such as Le Gourmand du Mouffetard in the Latin Quarter.
It’s just fantastic to have your own gorgeous place to stay. (See how chic it is – above it is the third picture down from the top) and to feel as if you are a local by shopping and cooking the French way. The apartment is beautifully equipped with everything a keen gourmet needs and is the perfect way for you to take advantage of all the marvelous fresh produce, innumerable cheeses, patisseries, chocolatiers and countless markets and gourmet food shops that abound across the city.
The numerous and extraordinary art galleries such as the Louvre, shopping in incredible little boutiques, visiting the amazing and varied sights, stunning iconic architecture, antique markets – the exciting list goes on and for some it’s much more enticing than a tropical island escape! Springtime of course is the romantic’s ideal season.
I wish I was there right now!
Kirstie :)
Where shall we go?
Each year hundreds of Australian couples jet off to enjoy the honeymoon of a lifetime. Many couples spend a lot of time planning and preparing their much anticipated holiday, so it’s only fitting that here at Bride, we offer a little help.
Honeymoons are one of the most exciting parts about getting married and it’s the first time where you and your husband will be referred to as a Mr and Mrs. Eep! Some couples prefer to enjoy a relaxing holiday sun-baking by the pool followed by a 3pm massage while others like to be a bit more adventurous. However it is you want to spend your holiday, we’ve come up with the best of both worlds. Tropical locations and something a little different for those who want to take a walk on the wild side…
Koh Phangan, Thailand
Koh Phangan is renowned for it’s Full Moon Party, however there is a picturesque and quiet part of the island that is away from all the hustle and bustle of the south. Up north in Thong Nai Pan Yai are crystal clear waters, soft sands and quiet, low-key resorts perfect for couples that want to distress after their wedding day. Thong Nai Pan Yai is enriched in culture with hidden bungalows secluded in the mist of the rainforest. As it isn’t as commercial or developed as Koh Samui, there is plenty of room to mix in with locals, sight-see some of the beautiful beaches/rainforests, and taste traditional Thai cuisine. The atmosphere is laid back and serene and day trips can be made to Had Rin Beach (about 40 minutes by tuk tuk) where there are bars, restaurants and shops. A trip to Koh Samui for the night is only about an hour or so away by ferry.
Cancun, Mexico
Located on the tip of Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula, Cancun offers honeymooners stunning white sand beaches, vibrant nightlife and luxurious beachfront resorts. South of Cancun lies the Riviera Maya comprising of Cancun’s most beautiful and exotic beaches including the Playa del Carmen and the Tulum beach which is huddled underneath an ancient Mayan fortress. The ancient ruins of Tulum feature the tallest pyramid on the penisusla. During the day, sunbathe on the white sandy beaches or have a go at sailing, windsurfing or hire a jet ski and tour through the exotic, lush jungle of the lagoons. At night, enjoy dinner at one of Cancun’s renowned restaurants sampling some of Mexico’s most traditional cuisines.
Desert Safari, Dubai
A desert safari is an amazing journey through the Arabian Desert where you’ll be apart of a once in a lifetime experience, exploring some of Dubai’s picturesque landscapes. All your senses will be evoked by authentic Arabic cuisine, stunning sunsets, henna tattoos and camel riding. Think golden sunsets, belly dancing and aromatic cuisines. If you and your partner are up for a little adventure (and you can stand the heat!) then this is a perfect honeymoon idea for you.
Paris, France
How could I go past the most romantic city in world? As the city of lights, romance and amazing cheese, Paris is the perfect honeymoon destination for any couple. Visit some of the many tourist attractions in Paris including the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, or quietly sit in of the uber chic cafes along the Champs-Élysées and simply take in all the Paris has to offer.
African Honeymoon
Amongst the wilderness, Africa maintains an exotic and mysterious allure that attracts many honeymooners. There are plenty of options when it comes to an African honeymoon including an safari trip through the raw African desert or a beach honeymoon off one of the coast’s island in Zanzibar or Mauritius. What’s best about Africa is the it’s hidden, tranquil and completely romantic. It shies away from the mania of popular honeymoon destinations allowing couples to enjoy themselves in a remote and enchanting setting.
Enjoy!

Introducing Bride Destination!
With the winter months well and truly here, it’s hard not to think of flying north for some much-needed summer sun. Everyone seems to be shedding their coats for sundresses, and heading off to warmer climes, and it’s not hard to be jealous.
But luckily for us folk here in chilly Melbourne, we’ll be able to turn the pages of something new in that will be sure to help you warm up those frozen fingers. The Bride team is proud to announce the release of our inaugural Bride Destination magazine!
We’re all very excited for you to get a chance to travel the world from your living room – and plan your big day at the same time. Because this issue is the very first of its kind in Australia – a complete guide for all those wanting to plan a destination wedding. So mark down the date in your diaries, and head down to your newsagent on July 1 to get your copy.
We’ve included some checklists of all those warm-weather essentials, given you 10 very tempting reasons to move your wedding to a special destination, and showcased some of the most stunning locations to say ‘I do’ and honeymoon afterwards, including Bali, Tuscany, Africa, Paris and Hawaii – just to name a few. We’ve also added some tips for travelling with your wedding dress, organising a photographer who will go the distance, plus some gorgeous gowns to whet your appetite.
Our desire for white sandy beaches and warm city streets has definitely not been satisfied. In fact, it’s doubled since we flipped through the mag, and we bet it will do the same for you!
