Gowns glow at the 2012 Brownlow

It wasn’t the footballers that had the Bride team gossiping this morning, so much as the range of striking evening wear on show at the 2012 Brownlow Medal at Crown Palladium last night. Several stunning gowns by Mariana Hardwick, Baccini & Hill and Simonelli Bridal Couture wowed tough critics and fashion-conscious fans alike.

Two of Mariana Hardwick’s designs took out titles in the Herald Sun’s Brownlow Style Awards. ‘Best Newcomer’ went to Jack Reiwoldt’s partner Carly Zeigler thanks to her black mermaid style peplum dress by Hardwick. ‘Best Jessica Rabbit’ was awarded to Marc Murphy’s date, Jessie Haberman, for her perfectly tailored and ever so classy mermaid silhouette in red.

Among the Bride team’s favourites was Lauren Longstaff’s edgy charcoal tulle gown with its classic sweetheart neckline and graceful train by Baccini & Hill. We also couldn’t get enough of Emma Clapham’s stylish dress with its elegant silver lace sleeves and chic floor-length black skirt by Simonelli Bridal Couture.

Looking for some inspiration for your own wedding gown? Check out some more of the gowns featured on the red carpet last night from some of Bride’s favourite wedding gown designers, Baccini & Hill and Simonelli Bridal Couture, below.

Catherine R Couture – A New Store

Catherine R's new boutique in Strathalbyn St Kew East Vic

On a balmy Monday night in Melbourne, Catherine R Couture held a launch for her new boutique in Kew East. After many years of operating out of Ivanhoe, her new store is very sleek and elegant and full of her beautiful gowns in a wide range of styles.

Catherine is renowned for evoking eras gone by in her stunning creations and you can find anything from a bias cut, slinky 1930′s inspired to a gown with a full princess style A-line skirt and French lace beaded tight bodice.

Bride attended the evening and enjoyed a glass of bubbly, the charming ambiance of the new store and of course chatting with Catherine herself about her work. Here’s a few snaps from the evening!

The busy workroom! All beautifully organised.

If you haven’t got your dress yet it’s well worth a trip to East Kew to see have a look through her gorgeous collection.

Designer Profile – Jennifer Regan

Jennifer Regan has long been one of our favourite designers here at Bride, we love her contemporary, feminine style.

Jennifer undertook extensive formal training in fashion design, theatre costume, couture and evening wear at Sydney’s prestigious National Art School, formerly East Sydney Technical College. She was one of the first bridal designers to set up shop in funky Sydney suburb Newton, opening her doors more than ten years ago. Ever since, brides have been flocking to her King Street boutique for her haute couture and ready to wear gowns.

Formerly trading under the name ‘Embryo’, Jennifer’s gowns are all about elegance, sophistication, romance and glamour. Her signature style is slim line goddess gowns in softly layered silk. She focuses on attention to detail, with her designs featuring beautiful French and English lace and intricate beading.

Jennifer’s experience and training mean that she knows what brides want. At her appointments she takes the time to learn each bride’s sense of style and carefully fit each gown. Her latest dreamy ‘Romance’ collection beautiful illustrates her hallmark graceful simplicity.
