Country charm – Whitney and Michael Green

Whitney and Michael Green tied the knot amongst the picturesque surrounding of Mt Warning, adding a little country charm to their day.

The bride wore an elegant ivory Pronovias gown with delicate Spanish lace and a detachable train, paired with pearl-embellished flats for country practicality.

In keeping with the country surrounds, the couple wanted to keep their wedding relaxed country chic. Yellow, white and grey were worked into the decorations, with paper lanterns lining the path between barn and marquee, while a huge bonfire nearby delighted and warmed guests as night fell. Asian inspired canapés were served with noodle boxes, while a sweets buffet provided a delicious array of desserts. The newlyweds shared their first dance together, followed by a father-daughter and mother-son dance. Their gorgeous two-tier lemon mud cake was coated in white icing, and decorated by whole lemons.

Ben Vella from Shoot Everything Photography captured the magic of the day.

Something blue

The age-old wedding adage, ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue’, is a tradition that many brides still choose to follow today. Brides may want to incorporate one of each item into their wedding day somehow, as a custom that traditionally fought off bad luck and brought good tidings to the couple and their marriage.

Today, there are many ways to have fun with this tradition, and lots of brides find clever ways to ween these items into their big day.

When it comes to something blue, brides have over the years found lots of different ways to include the colour, such as; monogram in blue thread sewn into wedding dress, blue shoes, blue underwear or lingerie garter, blue crinoline, blue nail polish, jewellery accents in blue: earrings, rings, bracelets or necklaces containing sapphires, topaz or aquamarine, blue bouquet accents, or blue bridesmaids dresses.

Susan and Andy: Pretty in pink

Susan and Andy tied the knot in a traditional Catholic ceremony at Susan’s childhood church, St John Vianney’s in Mulgrave. The bride was a vision in her faint shell pink gown with empire waist and floral embellishments.

The couple added small personal touches to make the day their own, whether it was arriving in the father of the bride’s VW van, or the invitations and cake featuring a moose groom and kangaroo bride to celebrate the nationalities of bride and groom. Each guest was also invited to request their favourite dancing tune to compile a personal playlist for the reception.

Susan and Andy were sure they wanted to have their reception at a winery, settling on Kellybrook Winery for the stunning views and rustic charm. The room was overflowing with fresh pink and cream florals and greenery, spread across the tables in vintage-style jars, adorned with black ribbons. With a chef for a groom, food was important; guests enjoying a brilliant selection of fresh produce, teamed with a selection of the winery’s own wines and cider.

Ring a ding ding – the celebrity ring!

So, it looks like it’s official – Brad and Ange are engaged! The news of this power couple’s engagement was announced earlier this week and has since sent the media world into a bit of a frenzy. This is just the beginning of what has been Hollywood’s most anticipated engagement. There’s endless speculation yet to come – where will they wed? What will she wear? Who will attend? We want answers!

However, putting these questions aside, we can’t help but be fascinated by the rock. It has been revealed that Brad spent a year working with jeweller Robert Procop to design the ring. The result is this elegant, giant platinum sparkler, worth an estimated $500,000.

On the topic of celebrity engagement rings, here’s a few more that Bride love – from Catherine Zeta Jones’s marquis cut diamond ring (worth $2 million) to Mariah Carey’s Jacob and Co. 17-carat emerald cut diamond worth $2.5 million. A girl can only dream!

2012 Logies red carpet!

Last night Australia’s biggest stars congregated for the annual Logies awards, which took place at the Crown Palladium in Melbourne.

There was an eclectic mix of gowns this year, with a noticeable trend towards sequins and sleek slim lines, fishtail hems and classic, but contemporary silhouettes.

Australian designers dominated the red carpet, with J’Aton dressing Offspring co-stars Asher Keddie and Kat Stewart; Alex Perry gowns adorned both Michelle Bridges and Megan Gale; and Jennifer Hawkins was dressed in a beautiful Toni Maticevski creation.

There were some fabulous frocks on the red carpet and once again the Bride team have picked their favourites of the night!

With Vera Wang’s 2013 spring bridal collection recently revealed, we couldn’t help but make a comparison between her new bold range and Carrie Bickmore’s gorgeous red Bowie gown. Wang’s latest collection comprises of ravishing reds and burgundys, which is just as daring as her last collection that brimmed with heavy black gowns. Channel 10 Breakfast weather presenter Magdalena Roze’s breathtaking sequined black Ae’lkemi gown channeled Wang’s previous bridal collection.
